THE GOLDEN RETREAT (Farmhouse : Villa) : A Biophilic- Biomimetic Farmhouse Design
.designed by Ar. Ankur Gautam Gautam
Situated amidst the Vibrant Landscape of Faridabad, the contour site provides a great opportunity to design a retreat project that provides a sensory engulfing experience to client, connecting him with surrounding naturescape.
SPATIAL HEIRARCHY & TYPOLOGY ANALYSIS :
SITE : The site has been zoned with Public Spaces (Party Lawn) @ lowest site level located right next to entrance , Private Villa spaces & Orchids@ highest site level , buffered by Semi -Public spaces, sloping towards the entrance.
BUILT-FORM : Spatial use arranged according to Vaastu within the chosen form outline generates a unique pattern of spaces with Public areas like drawing rooms , pool at the entrance and private zones ( bedrooms )placed at the back end. The unique plan form, stepping up in elevation backwards, provides views of the exterior landscapes from each point inside & gradually the interior spaces open towards the exterior through a series of recreational and playful spaces.
THE GOLDEN SPIRAL or RATIO : present as an array of Morphological arrangements in varying scales within each living species , the Golden ratio is a nascent footprint of all life forms. This ratio is what brings the principles of symmetry, rhythm and all the order into the chaotic life. Amalgamating this principle & ratio with the study of Vastu (science that harmonizes humans with their surroundings for their physiological & psychological well-being), The golden rectangles have been arranged in a myriad of Prototypes, each generating same order of spaces(coloured similar), but each time in an exclusive arrangement. The Quad spiral space : A uni- spiral polar arrayed to quad spiral – has been a perfect juxtaposition with the Vastu orientations and the ratios of the inhibited spaces.
PROJECT LAYOUT & VIEWS :
Deriving the landscaping scheme from the ancient Indian Gardens, the orchids and pathways compliment the right angled planning of built form , symmetrical about both axis, breaking the monotony through curved pathways congregating at flower petal layout derived from arrangement & intersections of the Golden Spiral. As per the views, each Landscape space is defined through the rich vibrant plant scheme, with view ports to further spaces, generating a sense of curiosity & discovery within the resident.
SPATIAL ENERGY DISTRIBUTION & VIEWS :
Each space has its unique field of energy , the pattern of field being governed by the typology of functions and their location within a space. This designed villa space has an outward radiating energy field, the epicentre being the sacred tulsi plant, symmetrically radiating out pious energy waves to each corner of the villa. The symmetry of layout & arrangement of spaces is what generates such divine patterns, highlighting the role of Vastu in design.
As per the views, each Interior space is defined through vibrant & light colour scheme, highlighting the exterior greens visible from each living space of house, be it dining or living or bedrooms. Such Biophilic interiors rejuvenates the visitor and encapsulates him into the beauty of the natural surroundings.
